Principal's Notes

May 10, 2007

Early Dismissal 2:00 p.m. Today

DRESS DOWN DAY TOMORROW

See teacher appreciation below for more information.

TEACHER APPRECIATION - Thanks to all our WONDERFUL St. Pat's Parents who have helped out with Teacher Appreciation this week.....the teachers are loving everything!!!  Just a reminder for everyone who volunteered to bring a salad to the teacher's Rock'n Luncheon this Friday, May 11th.  All salads need to be in Boland Hall Kitchen by 10:30.  Also a reminder to all students that Friday is the 50's theme dress down day.  Think white t-shirts and jeans!  If you have any questions or concerns please call Dana Marsh at 431-1561.

EARLY DISMISSAL – Friday, May 18th at 11:00 a.m. – Last Day of School & Field Day

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL - PreSchool will have their last day of school on Thursday, May 17th and PreKindergarten will have their last day of school on Wednesday, May 16th.

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN - Wow what a way to kick off our campaign last week with the announcement of $1,00,000 committed with only 54 pledges!  This week has also seen a wonderful response increasing our tally by over $100,000.  Each week we will present a question and answer to better facilitate the understanding of our campaign.  All of these questions will be maintained on the parish website if you would like to refer back to them at any time.  Please send us any questions you would like to have answered at jdunn@stpatselkhorn.org.

Q:  Why do we need a fancy brochure?

A:  The brochure appears “fancy” because of the stewardship work from several parishioners (listed in the brochure as the Communications Committee) who freely donated their talents to produce such a beautiful presentation.

The reason for the brochure is to produce something we can see and review at our own convenience.  The inclusion of information about the new build-out is meant for us to prayerfully reflect upon.  The giving chart allows us to realize that we can make a substantial gift by giving small amounts over the course of five (5) years.  The drawings give us hope and incentive for a truly beautiful and Christ centered campus.  This is the only tangible evidence of our campaign until the expansion is built and every parishioner should have this information.

Click to viewFIELD DAY - Fun is just around the corner!  As you know Field Day is scheduled for the last day of school, May 18th from 8:30 – 10:30 with dismissal at 11:00 a.m.  In the past, this has been a great success and a lot of fun for everyone involved.  A big part of the success is due to our wonderful volunteers.  If you are interested in helping with this year’s field day, please contact Mr. Reilly at nreilly@stpatselkhorn.org or one of the staff members listed below.  The K-3 Field Day will be coordinated by Mr. Reilly on the soccer fields.  The 4th and 5th grade Field Day will be coordinated by Mrs. Dreher and Mrs. Nelson and will be held at Bethany Lutheran.  A special thanks to Bethany for allowing us to use their soccer field.  The 6th-8th grade Field Day will be at Mount Michael and coordinated by Mrs. Simons & Mr. Ridder.  We greatly appreciate all of your continued support and look forward to this awesome activity.

SQUEEK – SQUEEK - We are in need of mice for our student computers.  If you have a spare one that you would like to donate, please drop it off at the greeter desk.  Thank you!

TECHNOLOGY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - The Technology Department at St. Patrick’s is looking for a few good volunteers to help with data entry this summer.  Data needs to be entered into Accelerated Reader, Edline, Grade Quick, Keyboarding for Kids, and a few more programs.    Good typing skills and attention to detail are a must.  The hours are flexible and can be worked to fit your schedule.  If you are interested, please contact Denise Breinig at dbreinig@stpatselkhorn.org or Don Ridder at ridderd@stpatselkhorn.org .

MUSIC NEWS - Wow, Chimes for Dimes was a great success!  The students did a wonderful job of bringing in their pennies, dimes and dollars to help us purchase a new set of chimes.  Because of the generosity of the students as well as several parents, we will purchase the expanded four-octave set of chimes!  I cannot wait to use these in the classroom and with the chime choirs.  Thanks again for all of your support.

LOST & FOUND - Please take a moment to stop by the main entrance to retrieve any items that may have been lost over the course of the year.  Any items that have not been picked up by the last day of school will be donated to the uniform loan closet or Goodwill.

COIN WAR RESULTSThe final totals for the annual penny war are in!  We raised $3000.00 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  This beats our record set from last year by about $300.  The competition was fierce between the grade levels.  The second graders just barely beat the third graders.  Fifth grade came from behind to beat the fourth graders.  And the sixth graders held the lead the entire competition in the middle school.  A great big thank you to everyone who contributed to make this drive our best ever!  The money will go to the Pennies-for-Patients program that helps provide for children suffering from these illnesses.
