DID YOU KNOW??? -  Each week in this area of the Principal’s Notes, I will present to you factual information about St. Patrick’s School.  These facts will things that you may or may not be aware of but yet will appreciate. My intent is largely to just keep families informed of all the many successes at St. Patrick’s Catholic School. You can share these fun facts with family and friends in the hope that it spreads the word of the many great things at our school to prospective families and students For example:  Did you know… that the average St. Patrick’s Catholic School teacher has a Master's Degree which equates to over 40% of our educators? Ten other St. Patrick’s teachers have hours beyond their Bachelor's degree with 3 teachers nearing their Master's. The combination of these figures can raise our percentage to close 70% of our teachers who have obtained a Master's in the very near future.

COMPUTER/COMMUNICATION ISSUES – Due to technical difficulties, the building as been without email/computer use most of the last 3 days.  But thanks to some wonderful volunteers that usually work way into the night fixing our problems, many staff members are able to communicate now.  It has affected everyone from the Parish, RF and School.  Please be patient as we work through these problems and get back on our feet.  Many of the teachers have been anxious to email their newsletters and update their grades.  Remember that if the ability is there, we will get the word out to all.  Thanks again for all of your support!

INFORMATION ON THE NEW BUILDING PROGRESS –We are finished with the footings, the block walls are going up and by the end of the week, steel beams are expected to be here. Thank you to all who are working hard and those being charitable toward the success of our Capital Campaign.  Please continue to pray for this success. As the progression continues to evolve, you can find updated pictures of the progress on the school website www.stpatselkhorn.org.

How does this club work?

Rosary Club meets on Mondays from 3:30-4:30.  We have snacks, pray the rosary, and then spend the remainder of the time having fun while making rosaries.  The rosaries we make are given to others or sent away to missions.

For more detailed information about the Rosary Club schedule, to sign up your child, to volunteer, or to donate supplies, please email Denise Ervin, the Rosary Club coordinator, at dervin8@msn.com or call her at, 393-2273.  All parents must make Denise Ervin aware of their child’s interest before Monday morning as to allow time to alert the school staff where your student will be at dismissal.

7TH/8TH GRADE PAL FOOTBALL - The Athletic Committee is excited to announce that St Patrick’s School/Parish has been sanctioned to play boys football in the PAL league beginning the fall of 2008. This is a very competitive and well-run football league.  It is made up of 12 Catholic parishes in the Omaha Archdiocese. The team will be made up of boys in the 7th and 8th grades of St. Patrick’s 5 day school and RF program. An organizational meeting has been scheduled for all interested boys and their parents for Tuesday October 16th in the Gym entrance at 7:00 pm. All grade levels are welcome to attend this meeting to gain insight into a fantastic opportunity for all of our male athletes of St Patrick’s Parish. We will have people there from this league to answer all of your questions.  Please call Byron Carpenter @ 445-2542 or Joe Wingerter @ 000-0000 if you have any questions prior to the meeting.  This is one opportunity you don’t want to miss.

COORDINATOR FOR LITURGY OF THE WORD FOR CHILDREN NEEDED - Are you a highly organized person? Do you immediately take responsibility for following through on details? Are you looking for an opportunity to make a difference in our parish? St. Patrick’s parish is actively looking for a volunteer to be the coordinator of Liturgy of the Word for Children and Sunday Morning Preschool. If you are interested in committing 6-8 hours per week to make a difference in the lives of the children of St. Patrick’s please contact Gina Higgins (598-2964) or Jackie Coco (289-4760) to learn more about this opportunity.

LITURGY OF THE WORD FOR CHILDREN VOLUNTEERS–We need your help to continue to offer this wonderful program at the 5 pm, 9:30 am and 11 am masses each weekend.  It is such a great opportunity for the children of our parish (K-5th grades) to enjoy the gospel on their own level.  It takes four willing volunteers at each mass to make this program effective, please consider volunteering 15 minutes of your time once a week or a couple of times a month.  Contact Gina Higgins (598-2964) or Jackie Coco (289-4760) to learn more. On Sunday, October 7, 2007, Liturgy of the Word for Children will not be held at the 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Masses due to the lack of volunteers.
