DID YOU KNOW …the lower level of our new addition will include: an art lab, two outdoor classrooms, a green house, a science lab (for all grades to use), classrooms for 7th & 8th grade Religion, Math, Science, Social Studies, English, & Reading, a teacher workroom, storage rooms, a teacher’s lounge, student restrooms, adult restrooms, a computer workroom, counselors office and meeting room, foreign language office, PE office and an extended care office.

 

INFORMATION ON THE NEW BUILDING PROGRESS – It has been wonderful to see all the progress that F & B Construction is making, as the walls continue to go up and steel beams are being mounted.  We are able to see these walls attach to our present building. The staff and students are very anxious and excited seeing their future “new” addition evolve.  Continue to pray for good weather and yes; ask God to keep the snow away.  Remember to take a look on our website at   www.stpatselkhorn.org  to be updated on pictures of the progress.

ALL SAINTS DAY MASS IS NOV. 1st - St. Patrick’s Church will be having Mass on this Holy Day at 8:30am, 11am and at 6:30 pm.

CORRECTIONS TO THE 2007/2008 DIRECTORY – Please submit any corrections to Stef Grewe by November 13th via email at sgrewe@stpatselkhorn.org.  These will be published in the Principal’s Notes November 15th for families to update in their directories.

 

SCRIP CHALLENGE DRESS DOWN DAY -SPOOKY SCRIP sold over $20,000.  Our students earned their DRESS DOWN DAY for next Friday, November 9th.  Mark your calendars!  (Final numbers will come next week!).  Thanks to all for participating!  SCRIP is an easy fundraiser for us!  Before you shop, check the SCRIP order form to see if the store you need offers school a discount!  Using SCRIP pays! Don’t forget about some of our parish and school owned businesses that participate in SCRIP – we carry AVANT Salon & Day Spa (Kim Mandolfo), Bene Pizza and Pasta (The Lanphier families), Frank’s Pizza (Joe & Bernadette D’Elia), M & K Carwash (Mickey & Kathleen Gottsch), and A Drop of Sunshine Home Cleaning (Denise Breinig)!  Each of these businesses offers our SCRIP program gift certificates at a discount!  Order your SCRIP gift certificate to any of these businesses before you go for a haircut/highlight, dinner, carwash, or get your house cleaned!  Call Jane Chapman @ 553-6131 or email KCCJDC@cox.net! You can easily get SCRIP cards by going into the school office or after weekend Masses.

 

BOOK FAIR 2007 UPDATE - Thank you to all the parents, grandparents, students and teachers who attended the Fall Book Fair. We raised over $3000 for the library. An extra special thank you goes out to all the parent volunteers who helped make the Book Fair a success:

HOME AND SCHOOL MEETING - will be Tuesday, November 6th at 7pm in the Gym Entrance.  Please come to discuss upcoming events – Taste, Field of Dreams Auction and other monetary issues.  Don’t forget we have awesome door prizes!  We hope to see you there.

 

 

ST. PATRICK'S APPAREL SALE!  Now through Nov. 12 order your St. Pat's apparel.  Many new items with the NEW LOGO (see the attached flier for pictures and descriptions). We will also have available hoodie sweatshirts in gray or forest green, flannel pants; long and short sleeve t-shirts and much more!  Samples of the items will be available outside the office for the next 2 weeks.  Please note, at this time the new logo is only on the fleece items and wind shirts.  If you would like it on a t-shirt or other item let us know!!  Please make checks out to Home and School and turn you order in to your child's teacher.   Any questions, contact Joan Quinn at 658-0120 or jquinn26@cox.net. STUDENT HEALTH SCREENINGS - We need volunteers to assist with student health screenings on Thursday, December 6th and Friday, December 7th from 8 am to 3 pm.  Volunteers would help move students to and from class, fill out forms, and lend a hand to the health care professionals. If you are a physician, nurse practitioner, a physician assistant, chiropractor, dentist or dental assistant, we could use your help with quick assessments on students that may have needs based on the initial evaluation. Volunteer for the day or for just a couple of hours!  If we get enough volunteers we will be able to offer additional screenings including height, weight, etc!!!  Let's keep St. Pat's students healthy!!!!  If you are willing to help, contact Nicki Lanzante via email at nlanzante@netscape.net or call her at 679-5749.

 

“ROCK AROUND THE BLOCK” MUSICAL - Are you looking for a fun night out? Do you miss those rockin’ 50’s? Do you get excited about students sharing their talents? Then we have a great opportunity for you!! The 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students will be presenting the musical Rock Around the Block on Saturday, November 10th and Sunday, November 11th. Come join us as we rock and roll and remember those great 50’s tunes! Saturday night’s show is in the PC at 7:00 pm It is free and open to the public. This is a great family event! Sunday night’s show includes a dinner theater in the PC at 5:00 pm , show to follow at 6:30 The dinner is professionally catered and features chicken fried steak, salad, rolls, baked potatoes and gelato. Tickets are $20 per person, and seating is reserved. The deadline to purchase tickets for the dinner theater will be Monday, November 5th to allow time for ordering the food. If you would like tickets, print out the order form, and send it to school addressed to Mrs. Rehn. You will receive an order confirmation by email.

ST. PATRICK’S SCHOOL STUDENT COUNCIL AND THE RELIGIOUS FORMATION PRAGRAM – are teaming up to gather food items to be donated to The Western Douglas County Food Basket Program.  They are asking each student to bring in an item or two for donation.  The drive will be from Monday, November 5th through Wednesday, November 8th.  Suggested items are canned vegetables, fruit, soups and meats or Breakfast cereals. – Thanks for participating!

CONFIRMATION CANDIDATE/SPONSOR REFLECTION - Don’t forget to invite your sponsor to the reflection on the gifts of the Holy Spirit.  The reflection will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2007, from 7:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Parents, if your child’s sponsor is not able to attend, please plan to attend this evening of reflection with your child.

 

QUILT CUTTING PARTY - Did you miss out on helping us cut the muslin squares at our last cutting party?  Or, were you able to make it and had so much fun you can’t wait until the next one?  Well guess what, we have another quilt cutting party planned for Saturday morning, November 10th, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  We will be cutting the strips for the quilt and need experienced cutters who have mats and rotary cutters.  We will also need volunteers to assist with folding the material and bagging the material once it has been cut.  Please email Sue Bart @ Susan.Bart@interpublic.com if you will be able to join us.

 

PARISH STEWARDSHIP INTENTION CARDS - St. Patrick’s Parish and the Archdiocese of Omaha have been conducting our annual stewardship renewal.  Each family in St. Patrick’s Parish was mailed a green parish intention card and an archdiocesan Feed My Sheep card.  In addition both were inserted in last week’s church bulletin.  Every parish family is asked to consider how they are sharing their time, talent and treasure this next year and complete the parish intention card.  Please remember that each school family that receives parishioner tuition rate is expected to have a completed Parish Stewardship Intention Card on file.

Middle School SPY Night - This Sunday, Nov. 4th from 6-7:30 pm in the Youth Room is the youth group night for 6th-8th graders.  Topic: Feast of All Souls.

2008 FIELD OF DREAMS DINNER AUCTION - We need your help to make the 2008 Field of Dreams Dinner/Auction a success! How can you contribute? Simply by donating goods or services, anything from child care, lawn mowing, photography, legal services, cooking, decorating, consulting, and coaching to time shares, RVs, boats, scrapbooks, hair products, sports memorabilia, music, wine, food, quilts, even your own home or backyard for a BBQ!  Acquisition forms are available in the school office or from John Dunn.  Complete the form and drop off your donation to John Dunn by November 15th.  If you have questions about donating contact Jeff or Chirsten Broz at cjbroz@cox.net.
